Family First Realty gives back to veterans at VA hospital

HUNTINGTON - For the third consecutive Christmas, real estate agents and staff at Family First Realty have provided gifts to patients at the Huntington VA Medical Center.

Mark Madore, broker of Family First Realty, said he and his team are blessed to share a little bit of time each year and hear their stories and memories of service to their country.

In a news release, he said this year the workers were about the spend time with about 30 veterans. Employees from Family First Realty were joined by six of their children for this year's event, including two who have served with the United States Marine Corps.

In the release, Madore said the goal was to provide a few needed items - like a soft blanket, socks, word games, snacks and even some stuffed animals - but also to provide a friendly smile, handshake and "thank you."

One of the veterans the group visited had POW and MIA patches on his jacket as well as a band of medals and Marine emblem on his hat.

"I left his room knowing I had met a true hero who, after many years, still mourns the loss of his friends left behind," Madore said in the release.
