TRUE SANTA: Giving back to those who gave it all

The Sun Chronicle - 12/24/2016

Ed Brault has given back to the veterans of Norton for the past 46 years - and he doesn't plan on stopping.

A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he understands that freedom doesn't come for free. And during the holiday season, he said, "it's time for the community to give back to the people that have given us the greatest gift of all - our freedom."

Now 81, Brault has been volunteering for the Norton Veterans Council and Norton VFW Post 8049 year-after-year to "give back to the people that have given me the most."

Since 1970, Brault has helped plan Memorial and Veterans Day parades in Norton. And for about 10 years, he planned the parades himself, until several years ago when a committee was formed to help.

Veterans Agent Estelle Flett said Brault's commitment to volunteering is "very much appreciated."

"He steps forward each year to honor our veterans any way possible," she said.

Whether he's planning parades, running raffles or cooking breakfast for veterans - he does it all in the spirit of giving.
