BRIEF: Federal grant pays for mental health training at Medaille

Buffalo News - 10/24/2017

Oct. 24--Mental health counseling students at Medaille College will be eligible for $10,000 stipends to support internship placements in their final year of study, thanks to a federal grant aimed at improving behavioral health care services in Western New York.

The Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded $1.46 million over four years to the college's Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.

In addition to the internship stipends, students will receive travel stipends for training in rural areas and attendance at conferences. The college also will conduct behavioral health care workforce training for students, faculty and supervisors in mental health, psychology, and marriage and family therapy programs.
